Final Exam Topic: This Exam consists of two parts:
I. 75% You will design a MySpace page for Gregor Samsa. This page will be replete with visual effects, but must also contain a minimum of 800 words (this does not include listed items such as “favorite songs,” but rather I’m looking for some paragraphs). You might accomplish this in the “About Me” paragraph, or by inventing friends who you can link to your myspace page to post comments about Gregor, or by creating a blog with journal entries (customizing your page as a blog is a feature available through your profile).
II. 25% You must post your MySpace link to the designated Gworks “Exam 3” Blog NO LATER THAN Sunday, December 9th at 11:59 p.m. E.T. Additionally, to receive full credit for this exam, you must visit and post extended comments to THREE of your peers’ MySpace exam links; these posts must be completed by Sunday, December 16th at 11:59 p.m. E.T.
This assignment requires research and thought, and some technical savvy. For example, notice that you will list some of Gregor’s favorite films and hobbies, as well as his religious and sexual orientation. Don’t simply do a Google search on “Existentialism and Movies” – rather, put some real thought into Gregor’s identity and what he would enjoy. Feel free to “invent” his religious and sexual orientation based on impressions you got of him from Kafka’s text. The writing you add to your MySpace page should explain some of the choices made. Anyone visiting your page should gain some basic knowledge of Gregor Samsa AND of Existentialism as a philosophy. Gregor should be presented as a real person, not as a character from Kafka’s Metamorphosis.
With regard to technical issues, I have provided some links below to help customize your MySpace page. Do not procastinate; as you have five weeks to complete this webpage I expect to see great things, not a basic template. Don’t panic if you have never used MySpace—this is a challenge to your computer literacy skills, but you have adequate time and resources to learn the basics and produce a quality page, and you will ultimately gain confidence when you see your accomplishments.
There are no restrictions for this project. Feel free to download images off the internet, link songs from other pages, upload photos you’ve taken, invent film and music titles, invent Gregor’s lifestyle, etc. You may also contact your group members for feedback.

Nabin: Loved your theme of buggin out! I laughed at all your references to modern celebrities, including Justin Timberlake and Christina Ricci. Also, your design was really cool, the background was very artistic;obviously you've got a good grasp on the new technologies that make your myspace site very appealing. On a separate note, its been a real pleasure working with you this term, and particularly you showed strong leadership on our team project. That certainly went a long way to making it as successful as it was.
best, Len
Hello NAbin,
i like that song you put on the page because matches with your Nabin. I also like the Pictures. I think the background is very creative, Did you do it yourself? I kind of took really long to create one. Anyways, hope i can add you as my friend on Gregor's page. lol
Hi Nabin,
It is a wonderful thing to be a bugger, or don't you agree with me?
Your site was incredible. You came out as a realistic person without any form of hypocrisy. That was great! "Not everyone is everyone". Good job sir. This is a message to those who are not themselves, once I read your "about me" section; it sent a message to me that one have to be who they are. It makes one to feel settled and have a sense of responsiveness. Use this medium to tell the world what realism is, you would heal a lot of hearts. Sir, do not worry too much about friends, the good ones would come when the time is ripe. Your page looks great; the blue background is very attractive. By the way, since we are all turning into bugs, it would be very nice if we summon other bugs for a meeting to discuss the best ways to protect out species. Bugging out is the best way to go. Awesome job.
